This is day 5. Most everything is finished. We need to pick out tile for the backsplash yet. There are also some details that need attention yet, but 95% is done.

BIG Question! What shall I do for a backsplash?

There are so many options; glass, stone, tile, etc.  Any suggestions? I'd like to go all the way around the area above the counter tops, but also up the wall above the glass cooktop. I'm waiting for the granite to go in before making any decisions. What does everyone like? Then we need to paint what is left of the uncovered walls. It's going to look so cool when it's done! These are just some pictures I found online. These are not mine.

New Kitchen by Frugal Kitchens -Part III

This is Day 2 of my Frugal Kitchens remodel. Today was primarily cabinet finishing; handles, knobs and cabinet crown molding. Also, the electrician put up most of the lights and put in new switches. The big news is that DeBeers granite people made a wooden template for the counter tops. That was actually a big deal. Much more than a technical drawing.

I understand that there may be discounts for those who decide to use Frugal Kitchens for their remodel after seeing mine. So, mention my name.

Kitchen Destruction vs Construction Photos

Original 1995, except for updated Stainless Steel appliances.

Cabinet hinges have been breaking. 

Builder would replace them, if I took them all out, 

drive them across town and exchanged them for new ones. sigh...

I've liked my large double sink. 

My new one will be stainless steel and the same size on both sides. 

I've replaced this built-in microwave more times 

than I care to admit. And what a bother...

Whew! All of Mother's Day weekend...

A New Kitchen by Frugal Kitchens -Part I

I am in the middle of remodeling my kitchen. I'd love to share it with you. I made a short video in the kitchen beforehand, so we have something to compare to. I will also make daily updates as the work is completed.
I was told that there would be a benefit to anyone mentioning my name when you call to do your own kitchen, as if their prices weren't already SO good already!

The whole process will take one week, minus the backsplash tile, since I haven't chosen that yet. I wanted to wait until the cabinets and granite were installed so I could choose something that matched well.
